When
COVID-19 was declared as pandemic, it resulted to schools’ shutdown across the
world. Over billions of children has stopped studying in a traditional
classroom and the education of every student transformed into modular learning
and online classes. The sudden transition became a great challenge not only to
students but to parents and teachers as well. Teaching has embarked upon
remotely and on digital platforms which brought advantages and disadvantages.
Indeed, the pandemic had exacerbated and emphasized equity gaps among learners.
Nowadays,
we are still battling with COVID-19 and there are still students undergoing
conflicts in adjusting to the New Normal.
As from the very beginning, students already seem to give up and ready
to just sacrifice their education. Being a student with much willingness to
learn, it is indeed an arduous task to weather the storm of pandemic’s effects
to the education of every learner. Given the fact that we do not have the same
financial status, availability of needed gadgets and materials, enough space to
conduct/attend classes, network/data connection and living arrangements, many
students were left suffering more than enough.
However,
despite the challenges brought by the abrupt shift to online, there is a myriad
of advantages which are beneficial to students’ growth and development. Such
as, the building up of
skills in associating with technology, enhancement of time management, having
variety way of learning which is somehow interesting and many more. Although a
lot may not be able to experience these upsides, with the use of advanced and
upgraded tools/technologies, this change became an opportunity that we must
grab in order to achieve a better future and higher quality of education.
Indeed, despite the drawbacks brought by the New Normal in the Educational system, it somehow offers us a good quality of education. The adjustments which was once a formidable challenge is now gradually being taken smoothly. We just had to bear in mind that the COVID-19 may keep us distant to each other, but as long as we keep in touch with our goals and dreams, no matter how far it is until we reach success, there’s no such a challenge as the COVID-19 Pandemic which can stop us in reaching for our own stars.
